Top dog and cat names of the year.
Max is the most popular name for dogs and cats, according to a new survey.
The name Max has been deemed top dog for both fidos and felines.
A search to reveal the most popular pet names of 2008 has seen people names dominate the top ten categories for both cats and dogs.
The survey, carried out by Veterinary Pet Insurance, Australia’s largest pet health insurance company, searched its database of more then 466,000 insured pets to compile the results. More info on pet health.
The most popular name for both cats and dogs last year was Max. The names Chloe and Bella featured prominently in both lists.
The survey also revealed some more unusual name choices.
It appears the backyards of Australia are home to pooches with the names Peanut Wigglebutt, Meatwad and the intriguing spatula.
Some quirky kitty names were also discovered in the search.
Some cat owners are brave enough to bellow these unusual names at dinnertime: Rosie Posie Prozac, Edward Scissorpaws and Sir Lix-a-lot.
